DANIEL'S 70TH WEEK

With the 70 Year captivity over, Gabriel tells Daniel . . .

Daniel 9:24-27 “Seventy weeks (or sevens) are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, (this prophecy is in the O.T., in Hebrew, to the Jews and about Jerusalem. It is not to or about the Church.) to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy (All fulfilled at the Cross).”

“Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem (Artaxerxes I decree, 444-445 B.C.) unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks (seven shavuim, which is the male plural form of shavuot or seven so these “weeks” require a multiplier. These are not sevens of ordinary 24 hour days), and threescore and two weeks (shavuim): the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times (fulfilled in Neh 2:8). And after threescore and two weeks (shavuim) shall Messiah be cut off (i.e., killed), but not for himself: and the people of the (satanic) prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood (of foreign people, Rev 17:15), and unto the end of the war (between God and Satan) desolations are determined.”

“And he (the above satanic prince, possibly Satan) shall confirm the covenant with many (Jewish people) for one week (“shavua,” a different form of seven, so this week is not the same kind as the preceding 69): and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate (make what desolate?), even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.”

Hidden in the Hebrew Word for Seven

The Hebrew word for seven (shavuim) used for the 69 weeks is different than the word used for the 70th week (shavua) so the 70th week is . . .

different in kind from the 69!

If the same word had been used, then each “day” of the 70th week could be seen as a year, but since the word is different, the 70th week must be seen in a different way. The 70th week must be describing a longer time than seven years.

But how long a time?

Here is Daniel 12:11 Again

Dan 12:11 “And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days.”

We already know this abomination is the Dome of the Rock!

Now lets look at a more literal translation of Daniel 9:27

Daniel 9:26-27 (Green’s Interlinear) . . . and its end with the flood (of foreign people, Rev 17:15) and until end war are determined desolations and he shall confirm a covenant with the many week (shavuim*) one and in the half of the week he shall make cease sacrifice and offering and upon a wing (of what??) abominations (shiqqots) a desolator (shamen) even until end and that which was decreed shall pour out on the desolator.

* Shavuim is the male plural form of shavua, the Hebrew word for seven.

The Translators of the NIV Got it Right!

Shiqqots ha Shamen

1. The Hebrew word translated “abomination” is shiqqots

(Strong’s No. 8251)

2. The Hebrew word translated “desolation” is shamen

(Strong’s No. 8074).

A: In Dan 12:11 the Abomination that maketh Desolate

is a “Shiqqots ha shamen”

B: Since “shiqqots and shamen” also appears in Dan 9:27,

the 70th Week is also about the Dome of the Rock!

So Daniel’s 70th Week stretches into the past and future

from the construction of the Dome in 688AD.

Once we see that Daniel’s 70th Week is about the Dome of the Rock, all support for a future Seven-Year tribulation totally collapses because Dan 9:27 is the ONLY verse in the whole Bible from which that idea could have been derived. The identification of the Dome of the Rock as the Abomination of Desolation is confirmed by the day-years of Rev 11:2-3, 12:6, and 13:5. The historic date of its construction is accepted by all, and the mathematics is irrefutable.

So if the 70th Week isn’t about a Seven-Year Great Tribulation,

what is it actually about?

The Levitical Code

1st: One Seven (a shavua) of years.

2nd: Seven sevens (shavua) of years.

3rd: One unique Jubilee (shavua) year with 360 Sabbaths.

Daniel’s 70 Weeks

1st: Seven sevens of years, 7 Shavuim.

2nd: 62 more sevens of years, 62 Shavuim.

3rd: One unique Shavua with 360 Sabbaths.

Daniel was a godly Jew, raised under the Levitical Code, so he understood the law of Moses. The numerical progression is the same. One seven, a multiple of sevens, then a unique shavua with 360 Sabbaths!

So should that last unique Seven be multiplied by 360?????

Daniel’s 70th Week

Since context requires multipliers and the Jubilee had 360 Sabbaths,

the multiplier for the 70th Week is probably 360.

If so, 360 x 7 = 2520 Prophetic years or 2484 Solar years.

Now doesn’t that fit Scripture and recorded history a lot better?
